Solskydd för en strålande hud

Sun protection part 1 – the key to radiant skin all year round

We know – it’s so easy to focus on serums, glowy creams and expensive treatments when we want to boost our skin. But if we had to choose just one superhero in our bathroom cabinet? We say: sunscreen, without a doubt .

Sunscreen isn't just a shield against sunburn. It's your skin's best friend – every day, all year round. It protects against premature aging, age spots, sagging skin and, in the worst case, skin cancer. So it's not just smart – it's pure self-love.

Radiant skin starts with protection

Think about all the times you expose your skin to the sun – without even thinking about it. On the way to work. At the kitchen window. At the outdoor terrace on a cloudy day.

Yes, up to 80% of UV rays penetrate clouds . And UVA rays pass right through glass . So even if you skip the beach, the sun won't skip you.

And you know all those fine lines, uneven skin tone or age spots that appear over the years? Many of them actually start much earlier – in the form of sun damage that you don't see right away, but that shows up later .

UVA, UVB and your skin

🌿 UVB rays cause sunburn – they are “fast” and strong.

🌿 UVA rays are the slow, sneaky ones. They sneak deep into the skin and break down collagen. The result? Wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

And the most serious thing: both types of rays can contribute to cell damage and skin cancer .

What happens to vitamin D?

You've probably heard it – “but I need the sun to get vitamin D!”. True, but don't worry. The body produces vitamin D from just 15–30 minutes of sunlight while wearing short sleeves and shorts. . The rest of the time? Protect yourself! It's better for both your skin and your future. And would you still feel like you're getting too little? A simple supplement does the trick.

Which sunscreen should I choose?

There are two main types – and they work in completely different ways:

Physical sunscreen (mineral-based)

Think small mirrors! Ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide form a protective layer and reflect away UV rays.

🌿 Works instantly
🌿 Suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin
🌿 Better for coral reefs and the environment
🌿 Can sometimes feel a bit thicker (but today's formulas are better than ever!)

Synthetic (chemical) sunscreen

This is the type you often find in regular sunscreens. These filters absorb UV rays and convert them into harmless rays .
🌿 Light texture
🌿 Invisible finish
🌿 May irritate sensitive skin
🌿 Certain substances are questionable for endocrine disrupting effects or impacts on the marine environment

Sun protection as skin care

The best part? Today, you don't have to choose between protection and glow. Many sunscreens are also loaded with skin-care ingredients :
🌿 Hyaluronic acid that moisturizes
🌿 Antioxidants that protect against free radicals
🌿 Vegetable oils that nourish the skin.

A sunscreen that feels good on the skin, gives a natural glow and works under makeup – it's the MVP of modern skincare.

Sun protection every day – all year round

No, it's not just about slathering on sunscreen on a sunny holiday. Sun protection is a daily habit – as natural as brushing your teeth.
Make it part of your morning routine: apply a light sunscreen after your day cream. It takes 10 seconds – and gives your skin an investment for life.
